DKNY
New Yorker meets rocker chic was evidently the theme for DKNY. With nearly each model sporting the famous Yankees baseball cap, Donna Karan focused this whole collection solely around New York. To add onto the New York theme, every model who walked on the runway was from New York. As the models came down adorning the very edgy clothes, they all managed to look so cool in their clothing. Kudos to the designer for displaying a multitude of very wearable and cute coats, pictured above.
Alice + Olivia
Bold colours ranging from baroque to floral prints, this collection was a far cry from plain. If you follow me on
instagram and see my outfits, you'll know that I love to wear prints, which is why I really loved Alice and Olivia's collection this season. Designer Stacey Bendet had intentionally made each model play a character in her enchanting hand-written book of fairytales, creating a very magical lookbook. With voluminous hair and clothes, Bendet has left a very bold and prominent statement this season.
Runway sets:
Tommy Hilfiger
Personally I find that without an eye catching set design, the clothes won't be as appealing to me in a fashion show. This definitely has to be my favourite set yet of the fall RTW collections from both New York, and London. It's amazing how you can transform a bit of space into a totally different continent. Just looking at this set, I feel like I'm in an alpine village in Europe, just about to go skiing. The clothes matched the runway, and were very wearable.
Marc Jacobs
I applaud you, Marc Jacobs, for never doing wrong in a runway set. Every single set in a Marc Jacob's collection is exceptional and out of this world. His sets manage to transfix our eyes in awe, and this set was certainly no exception. Hundreds of clouds draped from the dark ceiling, creating an almost extraterrestrial/alien vibe, as if you were in cloud 9.
Beauty:
Michael kors
I honestly can't think of any other word apart from 'flawless' to describe the models. The models were positively glowing as they walked down the MK show. Natural make up was emphasised throughout the looks, as Make up artist for the show Dick Page explains
"If you don't impose a line or shape on the face, you maintain integrity of the natural features, and that's always what is most beautiful to me." With sun kissed skin,p perfect beach hair, and rosy cheeks, this look definitely proved to be the epitome of pure organic beauty.
Jason Wu
A similar look to the one at Michael Kors, the focus on the models were all centred around natural beauty. This time though, the eyebrows were the main attraction. Makeup artist Diane Kendall wanted to create an illusion of them being straighter, and she did a great job of doing so. What I really liked about the make up in this show is that it was the bare minimum. The 'natural' make up really appeals to me because this is more wearable than most other make up looks in a show; no caking of the face or unnatural tones of glitter, which face it, we would never dare to wear.
