Blogger Q&A with Tatiana

Its that time of the month again for the Q&A segment! I have been following Tatiana's quirky blog for quite a long time, and each of her posts are crafted so well together that I knew I had to interview her. With such an original blog name (The Deathly Fashion) and eccentric style of fashion, this avid Harry Potter fan/Californian based teenage-blogger explains how she manages school and a blog, and her favourite must haves!

1. What inspired you to start blogging?

I was inspired a lot by Rumi Neely from Fashion Toast, she was one of the first blogs I had read and I loved it. It felt great to know that fashion lovers aren't afraid to put their originality up on the Internet to show others. That by itself was a great inspiration.

2. Describe your style.

I would definitely describe it as experimental. Everyday I try out different styles from real prep to very skater/cool girl. It really depends on my mood, what music I listen to at the time, and even other blogs. 

3. Favourite places to shop?

eBay is your bestfriend! Other than that, I like Cotton On, H&M, and I'm starting to get into Forever 21. (Story of my life as a teenager with a small budget.)

4. How do you juggle between schoolwork and finding the time to blog?

That's a great question! I take a lot of Advanced Placement classes and have extra circulars including yearbook, so it takes up a lot of my day. It's definitely a debate on how to prioritize them, but I blog in my spare time at the moments since I have a lot of responsibilities. School has always been first for me. 

5. Favourite trends of this season?

Leather has shot through the roofs and I love it, different textures are great. I also loved the laser cut-outs during NYFW back in September.

6. Where did you come up of the name "the deathly fashion"?

It came from the title of the 7th installment of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I just really liked the idea of putting something personal about me in my blog title.

7. What do you hope to achieve in your blog this year?

Gain more followers and getting know more bloggers. Networking is super important, so it's one of the top goals for me this year.

8. Dream career and city to live in?

My dream career is to be an editorial stylist, preferably for W Magazine. As to live, I'd definitely want to base in LA or New York City, but travel around the world to do jobs.

10. Favourite books?

I love all the Harry Potter books (of course), my favorite out of the 7 is Half Blood Prince. Besides HP, I really love Howl's Moving Castle by Dianna Wynne Jones and Target Underwear and a Vera Wang Gown by Adena Halpern. Fantasy and Sci-Fi books are my favorite but right now I'm branching out and reading a John Green book recommended by a friend. (I'll let you know what I think!)

Blogger Q&A with Stephanie

Living in any Fashionista's dream city, Stephanie Lin from Fashion and Tea captivates her readers with her one-of-a-kind blog posts- from traveling all around the world to the most unique cities, blogging pictures of yummy food (who doesn't love looking at food blogs?!), and a trendy sense of style, everyone should go check out her blog.

1. Describe your style in 3 words.

I would have to go with practical, minimal, and comfortable. I like clothes that are meant to be worn! 

2. What is it like living in New York City, a dream city of any fashion blogger?

I feel like New York City is one of those places people either hate or love. Luckily I fall into the latter category. The city's energy is indescribable and I'm ever so thankful for the opportunities that come with living here. I can also guarantee that a good time will be had. Whether it's bars, galleries, museums, or food, there's always something to do here. 

3.  What are some of your favourite visited cities, as you have visited so many and blogged about it?

-Mykonos, Greece. The water is perfect and the architecture just darling. It's a great getaway to just relax. 

-Paris, France. My most recent trip was with friends so that was a lot of fun. There was a ton of culture there, and I loved getting lost in the city (within reason, of course. I definitely didn't want to star in "Taken 3"). 

-Australia. I liked the whole "wildlife" aspect of it, and it was pretty neat seeing so many animals up close and personal. Feeding kangaroos was pretty darn fun! 

4. 3 things you cannot live without?

-Thick men's socks. Weird, right? I walk a lot in the city and wear boots practically everyday  Without these lifesavers, my feet would be in a sorry condition. I love Uniqlo's men's socks as they come in a variety of colors and textures. And they're so affordable! 

-Lint roller. As a fashion design major I'm always sitting, kneeling, and leaning against who knows what. It's a guarantee that I'll be covered in lint, thread, and fabric pieces at the end of the day. Without this baby, I'd be leaving a trail from school to work and all the way back home. 

-Rice cooker. What can I say? A girl has to eat! My rice cooker cooks rice and steams veggies at the same time. Perfect for somebody with no time who happens to be a lazy cook. 

5. Favourite desserts?

Oh gosh, anything with whipped cream on it. I'd practically eat that stuff by itself! Specifically though? Probably cake. I like anything with a spongey and moist texture. 

6. What do you hope to achieve in your blog this year?

I'm definitely working on making my restaurant reviews more thorough. I'd like to think that my reviews are helpful to anybody in the city looking for a good place to eat. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to expand my readership as well!

7.Apart from blogging, what other things do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to try new things, and with that comes a voracious appetite for new restaurants and cities. I guess from these interests my blog was born. I'm also an avid reader and quite enjoy short stories. I highly recommend "Paul's Case" for those who are interested. On a less serious note, I'm obsessed with playing games on my ipad. I'm pretty infamous in my social circle for devoting a lot of time to faux-islands, farms, gardens, etc. Some might say it's a waste of time, but my "villagers" beg to differ.

8. What made you come up with the name: fashion and tea?

My blog revolves around both food and fashion, so I thought that it would be an appropriate title. More so than just that, my blogging style is pretty casual and conversational. When I write, I imagine myself talking to friends over tea. Therefore, "fashionandtea" was born!

Blogger Q&A with Parfasseux

With a one-of-a-kind style that has landed this teen blogger on Teen Vogue's website, upcoming Australian blogger Yan has one of the most fashionable closets out (the next Rumi Neeley maybe...?)! I only found Yan's beautiful blog a few weeks ago, but as soon as I laid eyes on her unique and stylish outfit posts, I knew I had to interview her. And with a name like Parfasseux, who wouldn't like her blog?

1.Who are your style muses that you look up to?

I don’t have particular style muses as I look up to anything that appeals to me from street style blogs and magazines. But Kamilya Kuspan is probably closest to a “style muse”. She’s flawless!

2. What is in your wish-list that you are currently coveting for?

I’m always coveting on shoes. I recently just came back from Hong Kong and Bei Jing.. I bought about 7 pairs of shoes. And since then (only been a week) I’ve already purchased another 2 new shoes.. so maybe I should stop. Other then that I’m on a hunt for an amazing patterned blazer and tailored pants.

3. 4 things you cannot live without?

Paw paw cream, my iPhone, family/joel and.. sushi!

4. What made you come up with your blog name?

I was 15 and obsessed with anything French so I thought it was cool back then to mix the French word lazy and English word fashion together.. and it sorta stuck. Plus there’s no other parfasseux out there!

5. Dream career?

Become a fashion stylist/fashion director/journalist/pr. It’s a lot of things but it’d be amazing if I could succeed in those areas.. I'd also love to do something like interior design though.

6. Why did you decide to start blogging?

At first it was an experimental thing, because I had an interest in photography, art and fashion but then it sorta unintentionally became just a fashion blog, and now it’s a platform for what I want to do in the future.

7. If you had to live anywhere, where would you stay?

Hmm if it were Sydney it’d be Paddington, if it was world wide it would probably be NYC (I haven't been there but I'm pretty sure I'm in love with it already.)

8. What are 5 basic essentials you think every girl needs in their stylish wardrobes?

Leather, denim, boots, blouses and bags!

9. fave singers?

Ermm this is too hard I have too many but I embarrassingly rap to Azealia Banks and I’ll always love Michael Jackson.

10. What do you hope to achieve in your blog this year?

More then I did last year!

Blogger Q&A: Fatima

The Green Raybans is starting a new segment called 'Blogger Q&A', where every few weeks we will be interviewing our favourite bloggers! This month, we decided to interview Fatima from Fashion Pilgrim, she is undeniably one of the most talented 15 year old bloggers we know, her extensive use of vocabulary and fashion reflects in all of her unique blog posts.

1. What inspired you to start a fashion blog?

Well, I've always loved both fashion and writing. Naturally, creating a fashion blog seemed like a really exciting idea: I could develop my writing and discover my personal style and fashion tastes at the same time. Additionally, as I'm interested in a career in fashion journalism, it's a great way to make myself known, to establish contacts and to demonstrate to future employers that I'm truly interested in such a field!

                          2. What are 5 essential things you cannot live without?

1. Facial cleanser. This is pretty self-explanatory - no one likes an oily face!

2. My MacBook. It holds all my precious music, movies, photographs and documents. I also complete school-work and draft blogposts on my laptop! 

3. Greek yogurt. I'm absolutely obsessed with it and since I'm a huge snacker, I find that Greek yogurt's the perfect healthy yet delicious snack option for me. I eat it almost every single day! 

4. Books. I'm a huge bookworm! My favorites are romance novels (hopeless romantic, here), science fiction related to the environment and non-fiction books! My life would be absolutely dreadful without books. 

5. My family and my friends! They make life so much more fun, interesting and meaningful for me. This includes the blogger friends I interact with on a daily basis! (: 

3. Your writing style is really amazing for a 15 year old, where do you see yourself in the future?

Aw, thank you! <3 *virtual hug* To be honest, I wouldn't say my future is even 70% clear to me. I certainly do love writing and fashion so fashion journalism seems like a pretty suitable career for me; I'm not sure whether the industry is something I'm comfortable working in, though. I have a few journalist friends and they continue to emphasize what a catty, cutthroat industry it is. The fashion industry in particular seems highly judgmental at times. I'm not ruling it out though, because it's certainly something I'm interested in. If I don't become a fashion journalist, I'd love to go into medicine and become a pediatrician. I adore children and being a doctor has also always been a huge dream of mine! It's a very meaningful cause to dedicate your life to and I'm sure I'd enjoy it greatly, despite how difficult it may be. 

4. Describe your personal fashion style.

I tend to be pretty conservative in my fashion choices as I'm a Muslim: my religion advises women to be respectfully modest. I'm really girly too - I love bows, polka dots, peter-pan collars and adore light, pastel hues. I am a huge fan of comfort and my style tends to be more on the casual side, although I certainly love trying new things and breaking out of my comfort zone. Admittedly, my everyday looks are rather simple: my go-to outfit is usually a cute off-shoulder tee with skinny jeans and TOMS! 

5. 3 inspiring books you would suggest for young fashionista's like myself?

If you're contemplating a career in fashion, I would suggest the Teen Vogue Handbook to start with as it offers great tips for aspiring stylists, models, fashion editors and the like. I would also suggest a few biographies chronicling the lives of luminaries of the fashion industry like "Front Row: Anna Wintour" by Jerry Oppenheimer and "Coco Chanel" by Justine Picardie. These books give you a glimpse into the world of fashion and it was through them that I realized how difficult it is to break into such an industry and how superficial it can be sometimes; they showcase how the true conflict and betrayal that ensues behind-the-scenes is often veiled by the glamour, which is all that we usually see.

In general, just read more! (: Indulge in fashion magazines, blogs, biographies, reference books and style guides; watch documentaries, films and YouTube videos - it's always good to know more about the industry you're interested in. Be open-minded and explore different aspects of it because you'll learn a lot and it may help you decide whether you're truly cut out for a career in fashion.

 6. Favourite trends of the season?

 My all-time favorite fall trend at the moment is riding boots! I love how               comfortable and stylish they are and how they can be paired with almost   anything. I'm really into leather at the moment as well. Black leather ankle booties, preferably studded ones, are a huge must-have for me this season! I also love leather jackets but I prefer them in brown to black as black seems a little too edgy for me. 

   7. If you had to move to any city in the world, where would you move to?

Toronto, Canada. I grew up there and I absolutely love the weather, the atmosphere and the people. My family's actually considering moving back in the summer, and I certainly hope it works out because it really is a wonderful place to settle! 

 8. Other things you do beside blogging?

Well, I'm a student so high-school occupies a large amount of my time. I am also a Girl Guide and we partake in many fun activities like thrilling outdoor camps and meaningful community service projects all over Singapore. Cooking is a hobby of mine and I participate in such programs in school as well as on my own. I especially love baking but admittedly, I'm terrible at it. :( My favorite things to do with my friends and family are to go biking or ice-skating, followed by a movie or a shopping spree! I'm a huge fan of documentaries: my favorites are those screened on Animal Planet and National Geographic. I'm currently embarking on a self-initiated community movement with a group of friends and I'm really excited about all the projects that we're currently planning for the greater good of society! (: 

9. Your blogging goal?

Well, I guess planning goals for myself in terms of blog followers is one way to document the progress of my blog. I'd love to reach 500 followers one day! However, my ultimate blogging goal is for my blog to be an inspiration to others. I'd like to be consistent with my posts, honest, confident and kind to my readers. I'd like to share my passion and enthusiasm for fashion with them to motivate them to find something they love and appreciate in life and to pursue it. If it's a dream of yours, make it happen! "Your dreams only come true once you wake up." 

10. What's on your christmas wish-list this year?

I don't celebrate Christmas, so I don't usually expect presents at this time of the year. I'm currently struggling with what to get for my friends who do :( However, my birthday's exactly a month after Christmas and I'm currently pining for a pair of Doc Martens! 

11. Biggest accomplishment in your months of blogging?

Being recognized for my efforts! It's certainly something I'm proud of. I really love it when fellow bloggers, especially those that have a strong following, comment on my posts and let me know that they're impressed with my writing or my blog. Comments like that keep me motivated to always do my best (not just in blogging, really, but everything that I do) and to keep working hard and developing my strengths! (:
